Students Living at Home

Who: Students who live with their parents or legal guardian will be accounted for on the questionnaire filled out by their parents or head of household.

What is the Census? The U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States, and is required by the Constitution to take place every 10 years.

What questions are on the Census questionnaire? The 2010 Census asks 10 simple questions like your name, gender, age, race, and whether you own or rent your home. It only takes about 10 minutes!

When and Where will the Census take place? In March of 2010, census forms will be delivered to every residence in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Why do we have a Census, and why should I care about it? The 2010 Census will help communities receive more than $400 billion in federal funds each year for things like:
  • Hospitals
  • Job training centers
  • Schools
  • Senior centers
  • Bridges, tunnels and other public works projects
  • Emergency services

So in order for you and your community to get funding, the government needs to know you’re here! Remember, the Census is all about US!
